Recent Suffolk Status: Scarce and very local.
Life history: Single-brooded.
Identification: Very similar to Double-square spot. Double square-spot much more common in the county. Rests with wings folded more tightly over the body giving a slimmer resting posture. Often has a reddish colour to the forewing. Hindwing is whitish, unlike in Double-square spot which has a grey hindwing. Setaceous Hebrew character has the obvious pale spot, lacking in Triple-spotted clay.
Habitat: Carr woodlands, wetland sites so much less likely to appear in gardens.
Verification Grade Comment: A very scarce species in the County which needs to be verified with a photo/specimen.
